Cereal Crimes Gosalyn Alone

"The Family Way" is the 33th of 35 Darkwing Duck comic stories published in the Disney Adventures magazine.

Waiting in jail for Megavolt to bust him out, Negaduck reflects on why once again Darkwing Duck managed to defeat him. He comes to the conclusion that it's because of the family-type team he has and plots to acquire one of his own.

A few days later, he has built a machine that can create negative copies of anyone and anything hit by its beam and he waits for a moment to strike Darkwing's team consisting of Launchpad McQuack, Gosalyn Mallard, and Honker Muddlefoot while they're driving the Ratcatcher. Negaduck considers naming them his Terror Team, only to quickly make an unpleasant discovery. The Terror Team does not obey him and is, in fact, hostile, because they've inherited the negative feelings felt towards Darkwing more strongly than the positive ones. Launchpad refuses to be Negaduck's sidekick and Gosalyn complains about being made to eat vegetables. On top of that, they don't believe he created them. Darkwing and his team wisely keep their distance as a fight breaks out that sees Negaduck on the losing end.

After some begging for help, Honker reprograms the copy machine and Launchpad fires it at the clones, who disappear. Negaduck is sent back to prison, wondering why his family didn't like him.

"My plan was perfect! It should have worked! Why didn't my family like me?"
"Obviously Negaduck has never seen my family fight over who has to do the dishes!"
— Negaduck and Darkwing on family.

  • "The Family Way" features Negaduck getting his own version of Darkwing's team, which also happens in the cartoon episode "Life, the Negaverse and Everything". Only whereas in the comic Negaduck's team consists of evil mirrorparts made from the original team, Negaduck's team in the episode are Negaverse counterparts.
