"Star Crossed Circuits" is a season 3 episode of Darkwing Duck.

Synopsis[]

D.W. gets the D-2000 supercomputer! While it seems to be perfect, Launchpad feels it's replacing him as sidekick, and Gosalyn is fed up with not getting away with anything, and introduces it to Launchpad's soap-operas. Soon, even Darkwing wants the machine gone when it falls in love with him. Darkwing finally tells the computer system it's getting unplugged when he gets to the tower, at which point it goes berserk and decides that if it can't have D.W. no one else will!

Quotes[]

Notes[]

References[]

  • The title is a pun of the terms "star-crossed lovers" and "crossed circuits".
  • The D-2000 is named after the T-1000 from the 1991 movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day. A similar pun was used for the D-1000 in the 1993 game DuckTales 2.
  • The Young and the Brainless is a parody of the 1973 soap opera The Young and the Restless.
  • As Darkwing Duck jumps onto hard ground while escaping from the D-2000, Darkwing goes disoriented and says an opening lyric to Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson".

Milestones[]

Other[]

  • Probably coincidentally because all three episodes utilize common gendered robot tropes, "Star Crossed Circuits" retreats the plots of the DuckTales episodes "Armstrong" and "Metal Attraction". The first half that centers on Launchpad feeling inadequate compared to D-2000 is like "Armstrong", while the second half that centers on Didi's unrequited love for Darkwing matches "Metal Attraction".
